Perfect Game Profile

Shane McClanahan is a 2015 LHP/ with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Cape Coral, FL who attends Cape Coral. McClanahan has a long lean build with room to fill out and add strength. Short arm action to a mid 3/4 slot. Slight pause after rocker step, stays balanced and online with delivery. Repeats delivery well. Pitches to both sides of plate with fastball, fastball has good life when down in zone. Has good arm speed on fastball, will slow it a bit on developing change up with run. Slider shows tight spin and good tilt to it. Gets good extension and creates a down hill angle to plate. There is more velocity to come. Named to the Top Prospect List. Signed with South Florida. Outstanding Student. ~5/18/2015
From Charleston Southern
A summer ball teammate of fellow signee Zuriel Collins, McClanahan comes to the Bucs from Cape Coral HS in Florida. McClanahan is a talented lefthanded pitcher coming off a dominant spring in which he was 7-1 with a 1.03 ERA and struck out 70 batters in 47.2 innings of work. Playing alongside Collins with SWFL Baseball, McClanahan was also a driving force behind championships at the 2013 Perfect Game Memorial Day Classic and the 2014 Perfect Game Florida State Championship. McClanahan is also a very highly touted pitcher with Perfect Game ranking him as a top 500 overall prospect in the country and the 16th best left-handed pitcher in the deep and talented state of Florida."Shane is another talented lefthander in this class and one of the top arms in the state of Florida. He has outstanding arm strength and a power slider and compliments that with an advanced understanding of how to set up hitters. With his ideal pitcher's frame and work ethic, he has an extremely high ceiling. He is a very good pitcher now with a chance to continue to improve. We are looking forward to watching him compete for a spot in our rotation next fall and spring."
From Prep Baseball Report
Scouting Report: Lean projectable body with a quick arm at a low ¾ slot. His FB was 88-92 with tailing life and his CV was 74-76 mph with a sweeping break  that occasionally breaks both planes. Had some effort in his delivery but another big arm from the left side. Has made a jump this Spring in velocity and has attracted many scouts.  Has recently de-committed from Charleston Southern and should be a decent draft.Outlook: McClanahan made a big jump velocity wise during the spring. In February he sitting 84-87 mph and as the spring progressed he settled in at 88-92 mph. Originally committed to Charleston Southern, but he decided to decommit and sign with South Florida. With a projectable frame and showing velocity improvement from the left side he could find himself making a decision between pro ball and college next week.

On not stressing about the draft
